William C. Wood, M.D.

Scientific Advisor

Dr. Wood received his M.D. from Harvard University and is recognized nationally and internationally for his outstanding contributions to breast cancer therapy. Dr. Wood:

  • Has had major influence on the design and meta-analysis of conceptually-driven national clinical trials
  • Has served as both Medical Director of the Cancer Center and Chief of Surgical Oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital before coming to Emory in 1991 to chair the Department of Surgery
  • Stepped down from the Chairmanship of Surgery at Emory in 2009 to intensify his focus on scholarly activities related to innovation in cancer treatment
  • Currently serves a Professor Emeritus of Surgery in the Division of Surgical Oncology at the Emory University School of Medicine and joint Professor of Global Health in the Hubert Department of Global Health at the Rollins School of Public Health
