Dr. Ahmed received his Ph.D. in microbiology from Harvard University and currently serves as the Director of the Emory Vaccine Research Center and a renowned expert in T-cell memory. Dr. Ahmed:

  • Holds the title of Georgia Research Alliance Scholar in Vaccine Research and is a Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at the Emory University School of Medicine
  • Was recently elected as a member of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States for his seminal contributions to science in the area of immunology-specifically B and T cell memory
  • Has made significant discoveries on how immune memory cells are induced and survive; understanding these mechanisms is crucial to the development of vaccines for HIV and other infectious agents
